The Rocca family works a very small holding in the middle of the south-west-facing slope, next to their Gepin parcel of Barbera and looking across at Ronchi. The plot yields no more than about 2,000 bottles a year. Soils here are clay and marl with a high proportion of sand, and the microclimate is warmer than at the family's cooler sites, a combination that gives generous fruit without coarsening the tannins.
