Most of the fruit here comes from a vineyard at Magliano Alfieri, in the first hills of Roero, planted in 1967 and 2002 and bought by the Rocca family in 2016. Roero's sand, as against the heavier marl on the Barbaresco side of the Tanaro, produces a Nebbiolo of lighter frame and earlier appeal, with the variety's scent and grip intact but its tannin gentler. The remaining fraction is Cabernet Franc from twenty-year-old estate vines in Barbaresco.
