The Rocca family are Barbaresco growers, and as with most of their range this wine comes from one site rather than a district blend: a parcel in the westernmost part of the Seno d'Elvio subzone that is known locally as Terra di Mezzo, the middle earth between the two great appellations. The Nebbiolo vines there range from 15 to 60 years of age. Fruit is matured for twelve months in large Austrian and German oak casks, a format that softens the variety's tannin without laying down obvious oak flavour, and the wine is released as a preview of the Barbaresco that follows a year later.

Approachable on release and worth keeping for five or six years, it suits braised beef, mushroom risotto and aged Toma. Serve at 16-18°C.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
