In keeping with the estate's habit, this comes from a single site: a parcel in the westernmost section of the Seno d'Elvio subzone, an area known locally as the Terra di Mezzo, or middle earth. Vine age ranges from fifteen to sixty years. The wine is matured for twelve months in large Austrian and German oak casks, with no small barrels at any point, so the perfume and fine tannin of the grape are left in the foreground. It works both as an early-drinking understudy to the estate's Barbaresco and as a preview of the vintage still to be released.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink over the next five to eight years, with roast pork, tajarin with butter and sage, or a mushroom tart.
