The southern half of the commune usually gives firmer, more structured wine than the Vosne end, though this particular site tends towards finesse. Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux owns 0.7 hectares here, a substantial share of a vineyard whose remaining acreage belongs almost entirely to Maison Joseph Drouhin, and the vines are more than fifty years old. Charles Lachaux works the domaine's plots with high trellising, late picking and severely limited yields, ferments with whole bunches and matures the wine in used barrels. The style that results is lifted and delicate for the appellation, with perfume taking precedence over extract.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproachable earlier than most Nuits, but rewarding over eight to twelve years.
