The extra clay and iron in the soil bring more depth and structure than a young Vosne usually shows, and the wine tends to be firm in its youth before the tannins soften and the village's characteristic perfume and texture come forward. Charles Lachaux farms 0.74 hectares in the middle sector, with rows running top to bottom of the slope. The domaine's viticulture is unusual for Burgundy, with high trellising, no summer trimming, close planting in newer parcels and very low yields, and the wines are vinified with whole bunches, gentle extraction and little new oak.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePowdery and closed in youth; give it five years and drink across the following fifteen.
