Most of this wine comes from Chanlins, a village lieu-dit lying just above the premier cru of the same name on the Volnay side of the commune. At 400 metres it is one of the highest and steepest vineyards of the Côte, and the stony, chalk-rich soils give a distinctly Volnay-like reading of Pommard. The 0.25-hectare parcel of 40-year-old vines came to Marc and Alexandre Bachelet from their father, who sold the fruit to négociants until 2011. A further quarter of the blend comes from La Vache, a well-sited vineyard above Les Rugiens-Hautes, which supplies the depth.
