The name is said to derive from folles-terres, or crazy earth, probably a reference to the violent erosion these slopes suffer in heavy rain. Bachelet-Monnot work a low-yielding parcel of forty-year-old vines here, in the lower eastern pocket of the vineyard where the soil is very rocky, just below the Truffière vineyard. The parcel consistently produces tiny bunches with little juice, and Marc Bachelet notes that although the vines are only forty years old they behave as if twice that age. The wine is raised in barrel in the domaine's usual restrained style, giving silk and vibrancy rather than weight.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it three to five years and drink over the following fifteen.
