Both press against the Meursault boundary beside Les Vireuils Dessous and Les Meix Chavaux, and the oldest vines were planted in 1946. The land faces north and takes the cold air rolling down from the Hautes Côtes, which makes for a very fresh site and a wine that drinks well young and ages well too. Leroux has built his Beaune-based house on exactly this kind of address: unfashionable ground, carefully farmed, picked before acidity goes, and raised without fuss.
