Leroux was among the first to champion them, back in his days at Domaine du Comte Armand. The core of this wine is his parcel in Les Belles Roses in Meursault, planted to the Aligoté Doré selection, a low-yielding, higher-quality cultivar distinct from the more productive Aligoté Vert widely planted after the war. Winemaking is deliberately neutral: fermentation and maturation in seasoned 12-hectolitre oval casks, with half the wine raised in glass WineGlobes and stoneware amphorae, so nothing masks the grape's natural cut.
