It is a cool site with mostly white, rocky clay, and the combination of altitude and stony ground makes it slower to ripen than the crus further down the slope. That suits Benjamin Leroux, whose whites are built on definition rather than weight; he has spoken of the site as being aligned with his aim of producing fine-boned, chiselled Chassagne. His vines here were planted in the 1980s.
