Followers of Domaine Denis Mortet will know the terroir from that source. Soils are very stony over red clay, and the altitude and the cooling winds that run through the combe hold the ripening back, which is increasingly an advantage. The Leroux bottling is a deeper, more serious and distinctly ferrous wine than the main village cuvée, with high-toned fruit, plenty of spice and very fine tannin on the close.
