It sits on the upper slope above Clos de Vougeot and Grands Echézeaux, where topsoil runs out quickly and roots meet hard limestone not unlike that of Premeaux — which is where the finesse, perfume and texture come from, along with the cool, lifted finish. This was the only grand cru Leroux made in the Côte de Nuits in 2024, and just two barrels exist. Decant it if you must open one now; otherwise cellar it.
