Leroux's parcel is east-facing with very little topsoil over the rock, a configuration that tends to give tightly wound, stony wines rather than broad ones. Most of the fruit comes from vines planted in 1930 which crop tiny, concentrated berries, with the remainder from twenty-five-year-old plantings. The site has a reputation for layered, earthy Meursault, as the bottlings from Germain and Jobard demonstrate, and Leroux's version is consistently among his most mineral whites. The vineyard is managed organically. As with the rest of his Meursault range, the aim is transparency to site rather than the fat, buttery style once associated with the village.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBest from three years and good for a decade.
