Leroux has long said that Rugiens was the one climat that would tempt him back to Pommard, the commune where he made his name at Comte Armand with the Clos des Epeneaux. A long-term contract with the owner of his Volnay Caillerets parcel returned him here in 2017. His holding covers 0.6 hectares across three small plots of vines between 25 and 90 years old, lying at the foot of Rugiens-Hauts. Only the youngest fruit was destemmed, leaving around half the crop as whole berries.
