It is Volnay's highest 1er Cru, on fine light soils that make delicate wines by nature. Vines run to eighty years old, averaging fifty, with a block of twenty-year-old massale cuttings taken from Comte Armand's Clos des Epeneaux. Carré and Leroux farm it biodynamically and treat it as their test bed, so any new idea in the vineyard gets tried here first.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGeranium and violet on the nose, then sweet red fruit, aniseed and more structure than Volnay usually shows. Serve at 16 degrees.
