The ground there is rockier than the rest of the vineyard, which gives a very mineral expression with pronounced perfume and freshness and less overt flesh. Benjamin Leroux, who established his own house in Beaune in 2007 after years at Domaine du Comte Armand, produced only 500 to 600 litres from this parcel, and the vines gave tiny bunches and berries. The fruit was fermented with 70 per cent whole bunches, a high proportion that suits concentrated small berries, and the wine was racked early out of new wood into a two-year-old barrique so the oak stays in the background.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGive it eight years and expect twenty or more, the magnum slowing it further.
