Ábalos has always been his most significant source, a position further cemented by the addition of parcels in La Mimbrera, Carrapeciña and El Hoyo. Horizonte is a blend of eighty per cent Tempranillo with ten per cent each of Garnacha and Graciano, drawn from a dozen old-vine plots, all of them in Ábalos, in the lee of the Sierra Cantabria ranges. The fruit was co-fermented naturally in cement vats and given a short post-ferment maceration of one week, then matured for a year, half in 600-litre demi-muids and half in barriques.
