The Grenache comes from three blocks, most of it from the estate's own Rayner Vineyard, plus a grower five kilometres away at McLaren Flat and another near Tatachilla. The Shiraz is Rayner fruit too; the Mataro comes off the famed Kurrajong soils in the foothills of Willunga, and the Counoise from young Rayner plantings. All wild-fermented with about 20 per cent whole bunches and raised in old oak.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLively and energetic, with red cherry, raspberry and a peppery savoury edge, restraint being the whole point. Serve at 16 degrees, or a touch cooler in summer.
