Jeff Byrne has drawn fruit from here for a dozen vintages, mostly Abel for its Christmas-spice lift. This year everything was destemmed and sent to three-tonne open fermenters for a four-day cold soak, then ten days on skins. Pressed gently to 500-litre barrels, ten per cent of them new, and matured ten months before blending. A stint in Vosne-Romanée shows in the restraint.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTight on opening, it grows dramatically in the glass — berry fruit, florals, spice, a saline and earthy edge. Fleshy but finely drawn, with silky tannin and fine length.
