The average vine age is around 50 years. Punta Marcello, at the top of the slope beside the cantina, is the cool part of the site and gives fragrant, pale juice with long, angular tannins. Vigna Colle Sudovest faces south at lower elevation and is the warmest microclimate here, producing fleshier, darker fruit and softer tannins. A portion of Vigna San Giuseppe fruit completes the blend. Fermentation ran 28 to 30 days on skins, followed by three years in large Slavonian oak casks of 20 to 100 hectolitres.
