Vigna Scot comes from 2.3 hectares of thirty-year-old vines within Monprivato, on the east-facing and therefore cooler, later-ripening side of that celebrated vineyard. Mature vines, low yields, traditional winemaking and the great calcareous soils of Castiglione Falletto give a Dolcetto with more layer and depth than the variety usually musters. Rather than steel, the family ferments and raises the wine in cement tank and 5,000-litre Slavonian botti, which polishes the tannins and helps avoid the reduction Dolcetto is prone to. What emerges is juicy and mouth-watering, with vibrant cherry fruit and spice framed by polished tannin, and it is a Dolcetto that tends to appeal to Nebbiolo drinkers.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOpen now while it is fresh, though it will hold for a few years.
