His Pinot Noir sits on the west-facing slopes of the curving Courbes Raies vineyard, on calcaire à gryphées, a fossil-heavy limestone soil; the Chardonnay from the same site occupies the north- and south-facing aspects. The vines were planted in two generations, by his father in the mid-1980s and his grandfather around 1959. As with the Trousseau cuvées, the fruit ferments as whole bunches in a large wooden tronconique vat, and the wine is then aged in 228-litre Burgundy barrels and larger 600-litre demi-muid.
