Dec 2018","description":"\u003cp\u003eChampagne Egly-Ouriet 1er Cru Les Vignes de Vrigny is made entirely from Pinot Meunier grown in the premier cru village of Vrigny.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVrigny lies on the western side of the Montagne de Reims, well away from Egly-Ouriet's grand cru base at Ambonnay, and is planted overwhelmingly to Pinot Meunier. The domaine farms a parcel there and bottles it on its own, which is unusual for a house whose reputation rests on Pinot Noir. The approach does not change: low yields, ripe picking, vinification in barrel, long ageing on lees and a very low dosage, all of which give the variety more weight and length than it usually receives. This release is a 2014 base disgorged in December 2018.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGood now and for several years; it goes with charcuterie, roast pork or a mushroom tart.
