Nov 2022","description":"\u003cp\u003eChampagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude is Chardonnay from the clay-richer southern side of Vertus, raised almost entirely in large Austrian oak casks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLatitude comes entirely from Côte des Blancs Chardonnay on the southern side of Vertus, where Pierre Larmandier farms biodynamically. The name refers to the fact that these vineyards lie on roughly the same latitude, and it also hints at the breadth of texture the sites give, their soils carrying more clay than those behind the estate's Longitude cuvée. In the cellar, Larmandier works mostly with large-format casks, almost all of the wood now coming from the Austrian cooper Stockinger. Fermentation and malolactic conversion take place naturally, and there is no filtration. Bottles are matured for more than two years, disgorged by hand and dosed at extra brut levels, in this case four grams per litre, at least six months before release. The result has stone-fruited depth and texture without giving up the chalky precision expected at this address.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVery versatile at the table and good for several years in bottle.
