The soils are clay over gravel with the iron-rich subsoil that Pomerol growers call crasse de fer, and Merlot dominates the planting, with Cabernet Franc and a little Cabernet Sauvignon. The holding runs to only a few hectares, worked by hand, and the wine has been made in a deliberately traditional manner for decades.
