Château de Coulaine stands at Beaumont-en-Véron and has belonged to the Bonnaventure family since the fifteenth century, one of the oldest continuously held estates in Chinon; its vineyards have been farmed organically since the 1990s. Les Picasses is a well-known lieu-dit on the clay-limestone coteau above Cravant-les-Coteaux, historically regarded as one of the sites in Chinon capable of producing genuinely long-lived reds. The domaine's holding runs to 2.4 hectares of vines over forty years old, and the combination of limestone subsoil and older plantings gives smaller berries, firmer tannin and a more mineral profile than the estate cuvée.

Structured and savoury with fine chalky tannin, it suits roast lamb, duck and mushroom dishes and will improve for a decade; serve at around 16 to 17 degrees.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
