The estate has been substantially renovated in recent years and its vineyards converted to organic farming. Gamay is grown here on granite soils and fermented whole bunch in the semi carbonic manner that gives the region's reds their lift. Brouilly spreads around the base of Mont Brouilly across six communes and is the biggest cru by area, with soils ranging from granite to older volcanic rock.
