Pibarnon's terraces climb an amphitheatre on the Colline du Télégraphe at around three hundred metres above the Baie de Bandol, high enough for cool nights and open to the moderating sea breeze. The soils are unusual: les marnes bleues, a chalky blue-tinted clay rich in microfossils, also found in the Jura and Pomerol and valued for its low pH and its ability to hold water. The Cinsault is pressed directly to tank and brings perfume and balance; the Mourvèdre is bled off saignée-style after several hours on skins, adding structure and depth. The blend is assembled before a wild-yeast fermentation and raised in tank for six months.
