Château de Pibarnon sits higher than most, and its wines are among the classic mountain Bandols. The blend is ninety per cent Mourvèdre with ten per cent Grenache, drawn from the oldest vines on the estate’s highest restanques, the dry-stone terraces cut into the hill, including Bel-Air, La Grande Paguette, La Falaise, Les Pointes Blanches, Le Col and Les Dolmens. Altitude, the influence of the sea and the limestone and clay soils together bring a freshness and purity that is uncommon among Mediterranean reds. The estate is farmed organically.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlready mature, so drink over the next several years and decant before serving.
