It has belonged to the de Bailliencourt family for a very long time, and in 1969 it sold a parcel of its land to the neighbouring Pétrus, which says a good deal about where the vineyard sits. Merlot makes up the great majority of the plantings on the clay and gravel of the plateau, with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
