The soil is biotite granite, free-draining and quick to hold heat, and the gradient means every operation is done by hand. The Neyret-Gachet family owned the estate for 184 years before selling to François Pinault's Artémis Domaines in 2011; since then the terrace walls have been repaired, the vines retrained, the vineyard converted to biodynamic farming and the winery rebuilt so that each parcel can be pressed and fermented separately. Fruit not selected for the grand vin goes into this Côtes du Rhône, which was formerly bottled under the name Pontcin. Volumes are tiny at both levels.

Drink over the next few years rather than cellaring at length. Serve at 10-12°C with roast chicken, scallops or a mildly spiced Asian dish.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur.
