Merlot leads the planting with Cabernet Franc alongside. The Moueix house, based at Libourne, did more than anyone in the twentieth century to build Pomerol's reputation, taking on small properties and selling their wines into markets that had previously looked only to the Médoc. A dedicated cellar was built for the estate in recent years.
