Château Laballe is at Parleboscq, between the Landes forest and the Gers river, in Bas Armagnac, and has belonged to the Laudet family since Jean-Dominique Laudet bought it in 1820; Cyril and Julie Laudet are the eighth generation. Distillation is in the estate's wood-fired copper still of 1923, and ageing takes place in Chêne Noir Gascon, 410-litre casks of oak from the neighbouring Landes, whose thick grain lends tannin and spice. No colour is added and the brandy is bottled brut de fût, unfiltered and at its natural strength. This is a large-format bottling of 2500ml.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eServe at room temperature in a tulip glass; the large format makes it a bottle for a long evening or a gift.
