Laballe's examples are made from estate Ugni Blanc and distilled in the domaine's 1923 wood-fired copper still, a continuous armagnac alambic run at low strength so that the spirit retains flavour rather than being stripped clean. Ageing follows in Chêne Noir Gascon, 410-litre casks made from oak of the neighbouring Landes forest by a local cooper; the wood is thick grained and slow to give, lending tannin and spice over long maturation. No colour is added, and each release is bottled brut de fût, unfiltered and at its natural alcohol, generally from one barrel.
