Rich is made from 80 per cent Ugni Blanc and 20 per cent Baco, the latter a hybrid now unique to the region, and is distilled in the estate's wood-fired copper pot before spending at least twelve years in oak barrels from the neighbouring Landes forest. That wood is thick grained and slow to give, so the ageing builds structure and spice gradually rather than laying on obvious oak.
