Langoa was bought in 1821 by Hugh Barton, an Irish merchant whose family had settled in Bordeaux the century before, and it has stayed with his descendants ever since, one of the longest unbroken ownerships in the region. Barton also acquired a portion of the neighbouring Léoville estate a few years later, and both wines are still made in the cellars beneath the Langoa château. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend with Merlot and a little Cabernet Franc, and the wine is matured in French oak barrels.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eServe at 16 to 18 degrees with roast lamb, beef or game birds, decanting young bottles an hour or two ahead.
