The cool, dry climate and long autumn let Pinot Noir ripen slowly while keeping the natural acidity that defines Tasmanian wine. Clarence House takes its name from a historic sandstone homestead in the valley dating from the colonial era, with the vineyard planted on the slopes around it. Pinot Noir here is hand picked, fermented in small open vats and matured in French oak barrels, only some of them new, so that the oak supports rather than masks the fruit.
