The area was close to abandoned by the middle of the twentieth century before a group of growers revived it in the late 1980s. Clos Figueras was established at Gratallops in the following decade by Christopher Cannan, a British wine merchant long involved in Spanish wine. The estate works old bush vine parcels on terraced slate, harvests by hand, ferments plot by plot and matures the top wine in French oak.
