Pat Carmody revived the older estate vineyard just north-west of Melbourne in 1976 and made his first vintage two years later; he and Dianne still own and run the place. Fruit off the younger plot is worked the same way as that from the original old block.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eExpect plum and blueberry on the nose, then black pepper, liquorice and a smoky, savoury edge across a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins. Open it at about 16-18°C.
