It lies at the mouth of the Combe Grisard, which funnels cooler air across the vines, and its soils are shallow and notably stony with a high active limestone content. The combination gives a cooler, more mineral and tightly drawn wine than its illustrious neighbour, firm in youth and slow to open. Pinot Noir is the only grape.
