The fruit comes from the domaine's holdings on the right bank of the upper Loire at Saint-Andelain, including younger plantings within the Pur Sang, Buisson Renard and Silex sites, so it reads as a portrait of the estate rather than of one vineyard. Dagueneau set up in 1982 and worked to a standard unusual for Sauvignon Blanc: very low yields, about twice the normal labour in the vineyard, horse ploughing on some parcels and picking in successive passes. His son Louis-Benjamin has continued since 2008. Unlike the single-vineyard wines, this cuvée is raised roughly half in stainless steel and half in large neutral barrels, so its shape comes from lees and acidity rather than wood.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eApproachable from release and good for eight to ten years.
