The fruit comes from vines of more than sixty years on Saint-Doulchard marls in the Chambrates and Paradis lieux-dits, the latter of which Mellot calls the Musigny of Sancerre. The site runs to under a hectare of densely planted old vines with their own full-time vigneron, and is cropped at a very low 20 hectolitres per hectare. Farming is biodynamic.
