Les Griottes comes from 30- to 40-year-old Gamay on dark granite soils close to the family house. Where Chermette’s Moulin-à-Vent and Fleurie are built to age, this cuvée is aimed at the table: light to medium in body, bright and cherry-fruited. The method has not changed in decades — traditional whole-bunch, semi-carbonic fermentation in concrete tanks, followed by maturation in tank and old oak casks, with no new wood involved. This is the 1.5-litre magnum, a format that ages a little more slowly than a standard bottle and suits a wine intended for a crowd.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrink over the next two to three years.
