Its rows run north-south along the slope rather than across it, an orientation found in perhaps one per cent of Burgundy, which limits erosion and changes how light and shade fall on the fruit. Average vine age is above sixty years, with some parcels past a century, and the clay-limestone geology shifts several times across the vineyard. This museum release was fermented with roughly 60 per cent whole bunches and raised for nineteen months, four-fifths in new Tronçais barriques given a lighter toast, the remainder in one-year-old barrels alongside the first demi-muids used in the cellar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBuilt for the long haul and best left for a decade or more yet.
