Marsannay is the only commune on the Côte d'Or entitled to make red, white and rosé under its village name, and its whites come principally from higher, stonier ground where limestone scree lies close to the surface, giving Chardonnay a chalky frame and firm acidity. Domaine Collotte is a family estate in the village farming a spread of lieux-dits across the appellation.
