It has no premier cru, though a classification of its better lieux-dits has been under discussion for years, and its reds are firm and dark fruited, with more structure than their price suggests. The soils are limestone scree and clay, cooler ground than the villages to the south, and Pinot Noir here keeps good acidity. A vieilles vignes cuvée is drawn from the estate's older plantings, which crop less and give more concentrated fruit; the term has no legal definition in Burgundy.
