Daniel Bouland farms a tiny holding of 70-year-old vines here, just enough to fill a single large cask, in this case a relatively young Rousseau foudre. The soils are predominantly granitic sand, as in his Bellevue and Corcelette parcels, but they run deeper, which gives a fleshier and more aromatic Morgon. Fermentation is natural and whole-bunch, in keeping with the rest of the range. In Beaujolais terms the wine is profoundly deep, rolling out in palate-staining layers of spice-infused blueberry and blackberry with smoked meat and dark, slaty mineral notes, yet it keeps genuine nuance and lift.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDrinking well now and holding for eight to ten years.
