The clos sits on shallow, stony ground over the hard Comblanchien limestone that has been quarried locally for building stone, which gives a red of firm mineral cut and moderate scale rather than obvious flesh. Arlot treats the parcel much as it treats its premier crus: hand picking, indigenous yeasts, a proportion of whole bunches, gentle infusion-style extraction and ageing in mostly used barrels, so the fruit stays clear and the tannins stay fine. It is the most approachable red in the range and a fair introduction to the house style.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eReady now and good for a few years yet.
