The parcel is planted to Chardonnay on deeper, cooler soils than the slope above, and the wine that results is built on freshness and citrus drive rather than richness. Domaine de l'Arlot presses the bunches whole, ferments in barrel with only a small share of new oak and leaves the wine on its fine lees, stirring sparingly, so that texture builds without the fruit being covered. Of the estate's two whites it is the more direct, and the one to open first.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt its best in its first several years, while the citrus and acidity are at their clearest.
